Help for the Grand Knight - Resources

The District Deputy (DD)

There will be times when direction and questions will come up. Your District Deputy should be your friend and advisor. He is there to aid and assist  your council. The DD is hand picked by the State Deputy to act as liaison between your council, the state and Supreme councils.  Office. His role is to help you and your council be successful. He will have programs, ideas and answers to many of your questions and will provide an important connection to the other councils in your district. He and other appointed or elected State officers are valuable resources for your council.  Do not hesitate to call them for assistance when needed.  Most District Deputies have been Grand Knights and know how important the GK's position is to the success of your council.

Elected and Appointed State Officers

You may have elected or appointed state officers in your council or district. Offer  them your help and support and be willing to listen to their advise and counsel. At the beginning of the Fraternal Year, you will receive a Kentucky State Council Directory. In this directory are the names, address, phone numbers and email address of over 100 Knights who can and are willing to help you achieve success. Always remember, "None of us are as smart as all of us".  Everyone wants to see you succeed, but you have to be willing to ask and accept advise.

Agency Field Representatives

Also, do not forget the Insurance Agency field reps. They can be, and are your council’s friends (and often, a valuable source of new members).  Rely on your Agency field reps for membership and program information and help. The Field Reps have many councils to cover and members to see and serve, so the best way to insure that they attend a council meeting is to invite them. These men are brother Knights just as you and your members are, they love the order and are vast store houses of knowledge. Be sure to schedule a Benefits Night for the Council and make sure you check the date with the Field Rep.  Actually, the best way to assure a good benefits night is to ask the Field Rep to chair the evening for you.
